OrKidstra's fifth year (yes, that's 5 years!) started up in September 2011. The KidPlayers, KidSingers and KiddlyWinks programs are all underway.

April 2012 - The Leading Note Foundation Hosts Symposium on Social Harmony Through Music Education

On March 31st, 2012, The Leading Note Foundation, in collaboration with the Ottawa Chamber Music Society, hosted a one-day symposium to explore the impact of music education on the social and intellectual development of children and young people. Social Harmony Through Music Education featured international and local speakers, an education panel, a screening of the film Teaching the Life of Music and a remarkable concert by the Simón Bolívar String Quartet and OrKidstra’s KidPlayers and KidSingers. Nick Piper conducts OrKidstra and the Simón Bolívar String Quartet in the world premier of Thaw, a work that was composed specifically for the closing concert of the symposium. Both the symposium and the concert were a resounding success!
