Music Programs

With varied programs for different ages of children, OrKidstra offers a fun and progressive curriculum that engages and inspires children through music.

• KidPlayers String Program - a string program (with separate junior and senior levels) with a focus on fun, playing in a group, proper technique and the basics of music theory.  The Leading Note Foundation will be providing instruments for those children who would otherwise be unable to participate in the program. 
• KidPlayers Band Program - a band program (with separate junior and senior levels) with a focus on fun, playing in a group, proper technique and the basics of music theory.  Currently, the instruments taught are flute, clarinet, trumpet, French horn and trombone.  The Leading Note Foundation will be providing instruments for those children who would otherwise be unable to participate in the program. 
• KidSingers Choirs - Junior, senior and chamber choirs (organized by age and experience) with the aim of teaching the children the beauty and joy of singing together.  
• KiddlyWinks -  a fun music & movement program for young children.

Younger students (aged 5-8) are encouraged to join the junior choir for a year before applying to play an instrument in the OrKidstra program (children with KidSingers experience will be given priority during enrolment for the OrKidstra program).  As well, all OrKidstra students are encouraged to continue to be part of the KidSingers program.
