Music Programs
With varied programs for different ages of children, we are offering a fun and progressive curriculum that engages and inspires children through music.
- Junior OrKidstra String Program - a beginner string program for ages 6-8, with a focus on fun, playing in a group, proper technique, basics of music theory, and a preparation for our Senior OrKidstra program. Upon graduation, these children can choose to either keep playing the violin, or learn another orchestral instrument. The Leading Note Foundation will be providing instruments for those children who would otherwise be unable to participate in the program.
- Senior OrKidstra Program - for children ages 9-14, provides group instruction at the highest level to encourage children to learn and play in an orchestra. We are teaching violin, cello, flute and trumpet in the first year. Starting in September 2008, clarinet, french horn and trombone will be added to the roster of instruments taught. The Leading Note Foundation will provide instruments for children that could otherwise not afford them.
- Guitar OrKidstra Program - for ages 12-14, is a guitar ensemble class offered to teenagers who have had little or no previous musical background. We offer this program to encourage musicianship, fun and creativity in our youth.
- Junior and Senior KidSingers Choirs - will be launched during the summer program 2008 (Jun 2 to Jun 30). This will consist of two rehearsals per week for both the KidSingers and keen OrKidstra students. The summer program will end with a celebratory concert on Jun 30 where the KidSingers will make their debut. The concert will end with a joyous piece for both The KidSingers and OrKidstra playing together.
